Imagination Station

After spending the weekend babysitting 3 kids, ages 8, 6 and 3, I left wondering what happens to our imagination.
I’ve always known that kids are very creative and I always just thought adults use that more efficiently. But we don’t lose it. NO. We definitely lose it.
I sat there all weekend watching them play school with sticks. Literally the students were sticks and they were called on and scolded for “talking to their neighbors.” If any of us, over 12 year olds did that, we would be sent to a doctor and possibly put in a straight jacket. But for kids it’s cute, and definitely helpful so I don’t have to entertain them the whole time.  That’s great for sure.
But really, what happens to that state of mind? If everyone thought like a kid then it wouldn’t be wrong. There would be no worries. Really. I miss being a kid and just having everything work out because you don’t know how to have expectations. It’s life so it’s great. What a life right?

  1. I agree whole-heartedly!! This is part of the reason I love teaching little kids--they truly do say the darndest things! :)
