Concert of a Lifetime

Last night, Mike and I went to the Brad Paisley concert and it was so good! It was going to be a surprise but he's too observant and figured it out so when I told him I'd have to ruin the surprise to make sure I didn't get lost on the way, he immediately says get on I-215 and stay there till the sign says Maverik Center.   I just starred at him for a minute then hit him for not telling me that he knew so we could be excited together even though I was pretty sure he knew. Regardless, it was still fun and well worth it.

There were 2 opening act, the first:
Scotty McCreery-Who knew he was such a ladies man? All the girls went crazy when they turned the lights out and he came out. I recently got his cd and don't know it too well but I did recognize the songs and knew some of them. But he is such a goober. He is just a goofy kid. It was funny to watch him. But he is 17 and he opened for Brad Paisley! I thought that was awesome. He is so young and he just has it together enough to open for one of country musics big times. Way to go man.

The next was:
The Band Perry- Now everyone knows If I Die Young and maybe You lie and if you listen to the radio then you know Hip to my Heart but let me assure you guys that their songs get better. They are incredible. All of them are so good. They are great performers and just a lot of fun.  The girls voice is out of this world. She is just as good, if not better, live. She is so cute and Fun and exciting. The boys have awful haircuts but they are still fun and play the guitar and run around being crazy and stuff. They are one of my new favorite bands for sure.

Then it was Brad Paisley time. He sang a lot of songs but I'll tell you about my favorites.

She's Everything. It was just perfect with Mike. That is one of our songs and it will always remind me of him. It was cute to have him there while he sang it.

I'm Still a Guy. I really do love this song, regardless of the fact that I am not a guy. I just really love this song. Brad also made it even better by pausing in the middle and explaining to all the girls what we are doing to guys. Including, Couples massages, mani's and pedi's and making them watch the Bachelor and talk about how we feel about it. Then he gave all of this a name. Castrating. Us girls are castrating our guys. It was way funny to say the least. Then he explained that we need to give Saturday and Sunday to the boys because that is Football day and then Nascar. Those are the days that we go have tickle fights with our girlfriends.

Then. I'm not going to lie I did not like this song at first but it grew on me and now it is one of my favorites. Another one of those cheesy, I'm glad I was with Mike moments. But I really was. Great song with a great guy and now it has great memories.

Whiskey Lullaby. Normally this song is a duet with Allison Krauss but since she obviously wasn't there, The Band Perry did it with him. The two guys played the guitars and she sang. It was incredible. They did such a good job and her voice really is amazing. I loved every second of it. I want them to re-record it with her singing it just because I love her voice now.

Remind Me. This is a duet with Carrie Underwood. Now obviously she wasn't there either and I thought we'd get lucky and The Band Perry girl would do it. So then it gets to the part that the girl sings and we hear Carrie Underwood's voice. I thought for a minute that we were about to get really lucky. Then all the sudden she shows up on this screen and is singing with him but she's not even there. While it was kind of lame it was actually really cool that they could make that work perfectly and keep it a duet without her even being there.

Brad and Scotty sang a duet together but unfortunately I cannot remember for the life of me what it was. But I do remember that it was soo good. They are great duo. They definitely should write an original piece and record it soon. And the ladies went crazy.

This is Country Music. I really like this song and I like they way he did it at the concert. I loved that everyone went bazerk when he talked about the troops and being supportive. I felt very patriotic when I actually felt the same, I support our Troops. Then at the end he played a slideshow of country musics biggest stars and sang their most famous song to the tune of his. Like Johnny Cash and Walk the Line. It was a really good idea.

Letter to Me, I love this song so much. I have since I first heard it. But it was really cool for him to talk to our age group and tell us that it gets better. That made me feel really good. Like as great as I have it right now, it's only going to get better. I don't know. It was cool to get advice from Brad Paisley. Then he talked about Scotty Mccreery and him having it all together at 17 but even for him it will get better. I thought that was really cool.

He also sang, Mud on the Tires, Water, Alcohol, Waitin' on a Woman, I'm Gonna Miss Her, and I know I'm missing a ton more, then finished with American Saturday Night which got everyone pumped again. I love that song. I don't know how you can't. It's a great one.

Some other stuff from the concert...
Brads drummer, who is from Utah, is unreal. Seriously. He was insanely good. I never really though drums could be that hard and was kind of a go to instrument for people who didn't want to learn to read music or something but I changed my mind. This guy knows what he is doing. He is crazy amazing.
When they introduced Brads band they had this cartoon Star Wars thing. It really was way stupid. It was such a weird idea. haha I don't even know what that came from but it was weird. But, it was more exciting then just saying their names and letting have a moment to shine. The Violinist was really good too!! He could play crazy fast. I guess at that point he'd be a fiddler but it was super super good either way.

It was such a good concert and I loved every second of it. Even when we sat in the very back on the side of the stage. I actually really liked that no one was behind us or around us so we could put our feet up and relax. I loved it. I think Mike would have loved to be in the middle of the crowd on the floor but I panic and stress in situations like that. So he got to scream from the back. :) But I really appreciate him coming with me even if I didn't really give him a choice.
