Thats my only football joke. It's good I know.
But that has been my weekend.
football.
I never have really enjoyed football but I didn't hate it. I figured out why.
I don't understand a single thing about it. literally not one thing.
I went to my younger brothers soccer game this morning to start with and it was great! I understood what was happening, I knew what it meant when the ref blew the whistle and I even understand the off sides rules.
Then I went to my other brothers football game.
He's 9 and the whole team thinks they are at least 15. They scream and yell and flex their "muscles" they bang on each others pads and helmets. They just live up the football stereotype.
They don't get that is why people make fun of football players.
So I'm sitting there, watching #10 tackle these kids. We'd ring the cow bells and scream GO BRIGHTON!
While I'm cheering, I realize that I'm only cheering because everyone else was. And cow bells are awesome.
The best part of this game was when I realized we were playing West Jordan which is the team I used to cheer for!
Did you know I was a cheerleader? :)
I immediately tried to remember my favorite cheer, the bullfrog...
Once there was a frog, sitting on a log,
I heard him cheering...for the other team.
I pushed him in the water, he bonked his little head,
And when he came up, this is what he said,
He said..
Go! go, go. Go you mighty Jaguars.
Fight! fight, fight. Fight you mighty Jaguars.
Win! win, win. Win you mighty Jaguars!
Go! Fight! Win!
(rally...)
Yeah! that is right! All you little haters on my cheerleading past! Maybe if you're nice, I'll show you the actions. I'm freaking good at them. Still.
Anyway, Spence played great and he tackled some kid and was the result of loud cheers and lots and lots of cowbell rings. :)
Then of course, The Holy War, aka UofU vs. BYU football game.
In Utah, this is a huge deal. It is almost the end of the world for some people.
The Utes won. By a lot. because BYU sucks. Yeah.
Go Utes!
I tried to watch this game and understand and really get into it. Halftime came and I was so done. I hadn't understood a single thing the whole game and it was moving so slowly.
I'm just not sure I'll ever understand why people not only choose but are so passionate about getting tackled to your death all because you caught a ball that was deliberately thrown at you. Or why when someone is obviously tackled, laying on the ground, why 6 or 10 other guys have to dogpile on top of that with all of their 300 pound bodies. I just always cringe for the guy on the bottom. It's not his fault that guy threw the ball to him! He was just catchin' it so could have a game and not just line up and start over a million times. Give him a break!
Anyways. that is how i feel. I love going to the USU games. Our cheers rock and it helps that 2 of those cheers tell me what is happening.
(Another Aggie..) FIRST DOWN!
And the most genius cheer, the 3 held up for the third down.
Not sure what the point of that is but it is way funny.
That is when I like football.
Or when I watch it with cute guys and they explain it to my without being rude or frustrated with me. They are just so passionate and use these big, awkward words and it sounds like a different language but it is pretty sexy.
Letsbehonest.

lezbehonest is right!! football is pretty sexy...
